The winning teams of our tournament brackets aren’t the only ones that take home a prize. Specific awards (and great prizes come with those) are given out to the participants who bring out best sneakers we see throughout the event.
“Code Blue” Award – The Kick & Roll Classic is a colon cancer awareness event, and blue is the official color of raising awareness for the disease; therefore, an award is annually given to the player who wears the best all-blue sneaker in support of the Kiel Colon Cancer Foundation and the colon cancer cause.
“Rare Flair” Award – We dare you to play in your most coveted gems. A stellar prize will be handed to the participant who brings out the rarest pair of shoes on event day.
“Unusual Suspect” Award – Who says you have to play in “hoop” shoes on the basketball court? That’s too traditional for some. Yeezys, trainers, high-fashion sneakers – we’ve seen it all on the Kick & Roll hardwood. The “Unusual Suspect” award will be given to the participant who brings out the most unconventional shoe on court.
“Body Bag” Award – One pair won’t cut it; bring a bag if you must. The “Body Bag” award will be set aside for the participant who switches his/her shoes up the most from game to game.
“Scheme Theme” Award – This one is for the creatives. The person who brings the best theme of shoes to the Classic will get a hefty prize. Whether you go with a Penny theme or bring out the Under Armour Curry Twos and wear them in the order they released to the public, BE CREATIVE.
“Old Sole” Award – The older, the better. We’re all looking for the latest and greatest in footwear, but every now and then you might want to wear a pair of your vintage faves (we hope they don’t crumble on you). Kick & Roll Classic judges will be on the lookout for the participant who wears the oldest pair of shoes on court.
“Shades Of Grey” Award – Kick & Roll Classic Founder George Kiel has a unique affinity for the color grey. More than half of the shoes in his extensive collection are grey. For this reason, he annually handpicks the participant who brings out the best grey-colored sneaker on court.
“Evil Ingenious” Award – Creativity is key. For this award, we’re looking for the player who brings out the most creative custom pair of shoes (this includes designs from NIKEiD and miadidas).
“Sneaker MVP” Award – Last but certainly not least, the biggest surprise will go to the Sneaker MVP. How can you win this award? Simply put, bring out the best footwear…and lots of it. PERIOD.
